I ask because today is National Donut Day. Really! I have the scoop over in my blog.
Meanwhile, I will share that I'm pretty much an old fashioned girl. Have been known to enjoy an occasional Old Fashioned donut.
And living in Atlanta all these years, of course I get the joy of the "HOT DONUTS" sign in the window of my local Krispy Kreme shop.
What about you? Favorite donut flavor, shop, or memory you care to share?
There's a donut shop on every other corner in LA so no shortage of donuts here. Weird thing is everyone is so skinny. I'm not sure who eats all the donuts. Personally, I'm an old fashioned cake donut with chocolate icing kinda girl. Wouldn't say no to Krispy Kreme glazed most days though.
Tim Hortons is a Canadian institution. Yes, the donuts are great...they're the best I ever tried! My favourite flavours are the honey glazed (equivalent to Krispy Kreme's original glazed, only more yeasty/bready, and not as sweet), and the honey crullers (they have such a rich eggy flavour). But, Tim Hortons is about more than the donuts. It is a gathering place for EVERYONE...young, old, athletes, policemen, businessmen, senior citizens, families, friends. It is one of the few large companies that we consider to be "ours." When I think about Tim Hortons, I think about home. I remember all the times I went there with my family and my friends. The closest Tim Hortons is in Michigan, so we don't get out there very often (we're in Indiana). It's better in Canada, though, as the restaurants are always packed, and have such a friendly happy atmosphere. The ones in Michigan are pretty empty...Tim Hortons just hasn't been able to catch on in the States the way it has in Canada. I suppose it's because most Americans have nostalgic donut memories at Krispy Kreme and/or Dunkin' Donuts, and remain partial to those stores.

I actually loved those Entenmans chocolate donuts, throw those in the fridge, you got yourself a treat......just don't read the calories and fat content on the side of the box!
I'd like to tell you what my favourite doughnut is, but if I started thinking and writing about it, chances are, the craving for one would be so strong and I'd end up running out to Timmy's to get one. And you know what they say: you are what you eat, and my circumference doesn't need to be any rounder.
Truth is: I can't pick a favourite because I really never met a doughnut I didn't like. However, as a younger man, I worked in a bakery where I had to tend to them by flipping them over as they floated in hot oil. I remember getting tired of seeing and smelling them. And my coworker had the better job; he got to coat them with icing and chocolate and sprinkles and inject them with sweet tasty yummy fillings. Hmmm Dooouughtnuts....Doh!
I could not resist answering this question! There is a donut shop that has been in Westwood, CA for years and years called, Stan's donuts. A few years ago they opened a store near me in Thousand Oaks. They have so many incredible donuts that it is hard to pick just one, but I would have to say their peanut butter chocolate has got to be my very favorite. I can taste it, as I type!! :)

One of my favorite books is a Thrift Store find. I paid a whole .50 for it one day and what an awesome investment it turned out to be. It actually began my new life style for making natural beauty products for myself and as gifts for friends.

For a trip down Memory Lane...where were you when you saw Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid? I was in Michigan a long time ago! My theme, even though many raindrops fall.
Currently, we have 4 dogs living with us - the first 3 were all strays that we took in. But I choose to write about my beloved black lab who was with me for 12 years and 3 months. He was my soul-mate (if you can possibly say that about an animal) ...
