Your pet is the best, right? Of course they are! No reason to apologize for being biased in this space. Boast away!

Michael and Deidre Cross of Seattle, WA share their cat, Cooper, with us today. He's become a professional photographer! You have to see it to believe it.

What about your special pet? I'd love to hear about them!

I got Buster from the CT Humane Society last summer, 4 days after I lost my beloved dalmatian to cancer, some may say that 4 days is a little quick to get another dog, but I really needed the companionship.

The woman at the Humane Society said "this dog is a handful!'............I had no idea........he has become the current version of Marley, and I have nicknamed him "Busted", since he has busted so much of my stuff!

At Christmastime, I took him to Petco for a portrait with Santa, and he ripped Santa's beard off.......that went well........

He was in North Carolina, and came here with buckshot in his back, so I figure he was training to be a hunter, and either ran away, or was abandoned. He is a pointer/hound mix, probably about 15 months old, and loves to exercise and run, and is now eating one of my gloves that he just grabbed off the kitchen counter.

We have been through alot in our 8 months together, including a move to a new apartment, but he has calmed down quite a bit, and we have become best "buds".........How could you not love that face???

That pic and that story are classic!
Love the one ear up/one ear down look and the wide eyes.

When I got my first rescue animal (The Famous Tripod The 3-Legged Wonder Cat) the lady vet tech told me, "the ones you save; they know." I didn't understand what she was talking about at that time, but I sure do now.

You and Buster are probably even in the score of who saved whom.

He was laying on his back, and I just stood over him with my I-Phone and snapped the picture, the toy in the bottom corner was his favorite hot dog, but he tore that up, so I got him a stuffed duck, which he tore up, now he just slings the stuffed duck carcass around the house and chases it!

OMGoodness - that's it, I'm getting a harness and camera set up for MYSELF! (serously, I'm a terrible photographer!)

This is Winston (cat) and Loki (dog). Winny is 15 yrs old now, and Loki is nearing 12. These two came to my rescue when I was in the deepest of depressions. It was as if they were sent by the man upstairs to give me the unconditional love and caring I needed at my darkest moment. They just knew somehow... both sort of lay beside me, and provided those slobbery kisses cats and dogs give, as if to say, "its OK; everything will be alright." And it became alright. That was 10 years ago; my life turned around after that moment, and its been upward ever since. Do I love these guys? You bet! Would do just about anything to give them a good, happy, healthy life. Since that time have adopted more critters, all rescues from the dreaded executioner's needle, as sort of payback to the species. Companion animals are gifts for humans to treasure.

Erin, 2009 made me grow up. I had to seek me last year and then correct some of the things. But I know that I took a step forward even though life tried to keep me back.

I am not MAD at 2009! Every year ends in a mixture of emotions for those reflecting upon it. 2009 seems to be one of those years. I have heard people emphatically say “goodbye to 2009”. The year has brought to some great joy and to other great pain…
