An inspiration came to me today as I was driving around the car.
How about we start an ongoing "Thank You" note?
It's pretty simple--someone does something nice, you simply add an entry.
The stranger who pays the toll in in front of you; your husband picks up slack around the house; a friend goes out of her way to make you smile; your dog knows just when to come up and give you a nod.

You get the idea....we'll keep'em short and keep'em going.

Any takers?

Daryn,

I'm guessing you just want to use generics such as; my wife, the next door neighbour, the postman etc. and not peoples' names. Is this right or should it be more personalized? Just thought I'd ask to make it clear.

It sounds like a good idea and let me "Thank you" for thinking of it :-))

Karl--
Whatever works for you. If you feel called to thank some one specific then --go for it.
Can't wait to see what we create.

I've been thinking on my reply since you put up this post... I love the idea, but the person I want most to thank has done so much that this may become an incredibly long post. :-)

Dear Scott,
I want to say thank you for... not allowing yourself to fall apart when our daughter died, and holding all my bits and pieces together for the next 5 years, even though I was horrible to you. I want to thank you for falling apart with me when our son died, and trusting me to be capable of holding your bits and pieces together like you did for me. I want to thank you for 17 years of supporting my every crazy whim, idea, project and cause. For spending 17 years convincing me that I am worthy, and lovable, and strong. Thank you for all that you are, and allowing me to become all that I am.

Thank you, Erin, for sharing your strength with the rest of us. I am truly sorry for your loss, and I am eternally grateful for knowing your courage. Sincerely, Rose

Wow. Talk about starting the category out with a grand slam.
Thanks, Erin.
And I was just going to thank my friends Tricia and Lori for showing up in the rain and cold this morning for our Sunday run. No way I would've gone without them. Boy, did my insides need it. Sure felt yucky before. So, thanks, Ladies.

And I guess my overall point is this space is great for the huger than huge Thank You's like Erin expressed for her husband. And for the little stuff, as well.

Let's overflow with all sorts of gratitude!

I would like to thank God for making my Oct. 4th birthday wish come true. He has allowed me to get to know and befriend a person whom I greatly admire; even allowing me the opportunity to give her support and advice with regards to struggles in her own life.

I would also like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to share my faith, through actions and words, to a friend in need of a listening ear and advice. This happened on Christmas Eve which made it extra special. I try always to be a living reflection of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and was so touched that this friend picked up on something before I'd even told him much about my faith. I had only set out to be a good listener and give good advice, but the conversation progressed to a discussion of faith with such ease.

I am a handicapped senior citizen and I am thankful to all the strangers who help me out in the grocery store and on the street. It was hard to receive help when I first became ill, but since I opened up and was willing to receive help, it has moved my life into overdrive with joy! People ARE great!!

I LOVE this!

Today when I told my 11 year old daughter that she was not allowed to wear 'the punk look' (in my most serious mom voice) - she was upset. For about 2 minutes.

Then she looked at me and said 'I love you Mom' - and she was over it!

So I want to Thank my daughter Mia for loving me even when I tell her 'No!'

I would like to say thank you to my co-workers. My boss left the company and I have been left with uncertainty about my job. From day-to-day there is not much work to do and I worry that soon the company will have to let me go. My co-workers have shared their assignments and given me a forum to talk out my frustrations. Because of their support, I am still on the job and I feel better each day. I know that no matter what happens, I will be very grateful to these women for offering me their support.

Thanks Mary! I'm thinking during these stressful days one might find peace and satisfaction in their own life by doing something small but helpful for someone else and everyone wins.
