An Introduction to Me

As a new member to this social networking site, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Lynn Lambert, Smyrna, Georgia. I'm an administrative assistant for an engineering consulting firm currently under contract to a county agency. I've lived in Smyrna since 1998 when I relocated from Music City -- Nashville, Tennessee. I have one sister and one brother, and thanks to them, wonderful nieces and a nephew and a great-niece and great-nephew. I'm 62 years old and three and one-half years away from retirement and celebrating my golden years with my family--something I look forward to every day.

My entry into this world began on November 9, 1946 with my astrological sign being Scorpio. I don't border on any cusp--I'm true Scorpio through and through. I won't bore you with those characteristics, but one -- I am passionate about two things -- family and my writing. I have been published in two anthologies and I enjoy writing short stories, novels (some are the great unwritten ones), televison stories, poetry and children's literature. My dream is to have my own book published one day. My second dream is to regain full motion in my right arm after having undergone shoulder and elbow surgery in December 2008. My dreams are simple ones.

I love gardening (although with my arm I can't right now) and I have nine plants in my house. I really should water them before I go to bed tonight. I love television and reruns of NCIS, the Law and Order series, the History and Travel Channels and while on medical leave, developed a fondness for the Food Network (I think I gained weight looking at all the food!).

What do I write? Mostly anything that pops into my head. I think I write 'outside the box'--some themes being a birdcage that's now lonely since his companion departed. Or about the struggle between the last leaf of autumn against the new wind of winter. I can write with a sense of humor and sarcasm. I enjoy writing about heroism and patriotism.

I like to cook, but I don't like to bake. My favorite food is doughnuts (there's not a doughnut I don't like). My favorite drink is Vernors Ginger Ale. I like to collect receipes. My favorite magazines deal with the entertainment industry. I also enjoy reading Reader's Digest, Newsweek, and Money. I love playing scrabble on the computer and win quite frequently. I don't like the cold weather, except I do wish it would snow at Christmas. I love grilled hamburgers (my nephew is great at this and barbeque chicken!) and hotdogs.

There's so much more to me (just like there's so much more to you), but I'll save that for later posts. In the meantime, thanks for having me in your community and I look forward to meeting and greeting you.

Now that's a great introduction Lynn! I'm with ya on baking and cold weather, and I'm a recovering internet-scrabble addict. Poetry too - I have one poetry chapbook in my history, but I haven't written any poetry in 3 yrs or so. I even once lived in Tennessee (Smithville) but there was a bit too much winter there for me!
